Privacy Policy

The DataRecover Pro app processes your drives entirely on your own Mac. The names, paths, and contents of the files you scan, preview, recover, or repair are never uploaded to us or anyone else, and are never logged.

The only personal data we hold is what is needed to operate your account and license, described below. If you turn it on, the app also sends anonymous usage statistics, which never include file names, paths, or contents.

When you scan, preview, recover, or repair files, all of that happens locally on your device. We do not receive, transmit, or store:

• The contents of any file on your drives
• File names, paths, or folder structures from scanned drives
• Disk images or recovered data

To provide accounts, licensing, downloads, and support, we collect:

• Account data: your email address and a securely hashed password (Argon2id).
• Device data: identifiers and basic metadata (OS, app version) for the devices you activate under a license, so we can enforce device limits.
• Network data: IP addresses, used transiently for rate limiting, abuse prevention, and security audit logging.
• Billing data: subscription and license status. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive or store your full card details.
• Support data: the contents of emails you send us.

The app can send anonymous usage statistics that help us understand how it's used and where it falls short. This is off until you turn it on: the app asks once, after your first scan, and you can change your answer anytime in Settings › Updates & Privacy. When it's on, the app sends:

• A random install ID created on your Mac. It is not your account, license, or device ID, and we don't link it to them.
• The app version, macOS version, and processor type.
• Events such as a scan starting or finishing, results being previewed, the purchase screen being shown or its button clicked, and a recovery or repair finishing.
• Numbers about those events: file and byte counts, durations, the filesystem type, the scan mode, whether the source was a disk, a volume, or a disk image, and how many files of each type were found, by extension only (for example, 120 .jpg files).

Usage statistics never include file names, paths, folder or volume names, file contents, serial numbers, or your email address. When the setting is off, nothing is sent.

Our website uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to count page views and measure how fast pages load. They don't use cookies and don't identify you. For each page view they record the page address, the referring site, your approximate location (country, region, and city), and your browser, operating system, and device type. We remove query strings from page addresses before they're sent, except campaign tags such as utm_source, so sign-in and checkout links never reach Vercel's analytics.

• To secure our services and diagnose errors
• To understand how the website and app are used and improve them (app usage statistics only if you turn them on)

We share the limited data above only with processors that help us run the service:

• Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
• Resend — transactional email (verification, password reset, receipts).
• Sentry — error monitoring; configured to scrub personal data.
• Neon (PostgreSQL) and Fly.io — application database and hosting (United States).
• Cloudflare R2 — hosting of app download files.
• Vercel — website hosting, cookieless page analytics, and page-speed measurement.

We do not sell your personal data.

Our website uses strictly necessary, httpOnly cookies to keep you signed in to your account. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and our website analytics use no cookies at all.

We keep account and license data for as long as your account is active. Security and audit logs are retained for a limited period. You can ask us to delete your account at any time. Anonymous usage statistics are deleted automatically 13 months after we receive them; because they aren't linked to your account, we can't look them up or delete them sooner by your email address.

Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, contact us at support@datarecoverpro.com.

DataRecover Pro is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
